It seemed like almost yesterday, but in reality it was about a year ago... I took my best friend and constant companion to his first car show in my hearse. He was tired and a bit burnt from the sun, so he took a nap in my casket. He loved people's reactions to him sleeping in a casket in the back of a hearse. We both had great fun that day. He loved my coach so much. He even made a joke about "bad Karma" sleeping in a casket that day.
These last few weeks, I look back on those happier days, and many others, and wish they never ended. My coach broke down and awaits repair funds...but that is not important to me as much as my best friend and constant companion... After 18 years of chronic illness and other complications, terminal cancer may finally take him away from me. When I asked him about that day he slept in the casket, he replied proudly, "No, I don't regret it at all." He just misses our long drives in my coach with the stereo blasting...lol.
Am I heartless and inconsiderate towards the general public in regards to their phobias of hearses and human loss?? No... I don't think I am...I've heard this topic brought up more than once. I truly understand their point of view. As a care giver to my friend, nothing hurts more than watching the ones you care about pass away ever so slowly and painfully...day by day...week by week...month by month. Has it affected our love of hearses and horror movies?? Not too much. I'll Miss you Mike:-(
I'm sorry...I just had to vent a bit....been a long week.
Tony
